Defender Nélson Monte has been introduced as a new player for Córdoba Club de Fútbol, expressing his excitement about this new chapter and his confidence in being able to bring experience to a young squad. The center-back explained that his transfer was finalized in the last hours of the market, after quickly evaluating the offer with his family. “It was crazy, but because of the club's size and history, I decided to take the step. I come with the utmost enthusiasm to help the team,” he stated.
The Portuguese footballer also highlighted his versatility in central defense, stating that he feels comfortable on both the right and left sides, positions he has already played during his career in Portugal and during his stints in Málaga and Almería. Regarding his role in the locker room, Nélson described himself as an “older brother,” ready to contribute the experience he has accumulated throughout his career and to bring calm during the most challenging moments.
Nélson Monte also acknowledged feeling fully aligned with Iván Ania's footballing approach, which is based on a high defensive line, ball distribution, and pressing. The center-back assured that he is familiar with the coach's philosophy and positively valued the challenge of competing in a demanding setting like the Bahrain Victorious Nuevo Arcángel. “We footballers enjoy that kind of good pressure,” he said, highlighting the quality and ambition he perceives in the squad to compete in LaLiga Hypermotion.
