The coach of Córdoba CF, Iván Ania, appeared before the media ahead of the league debut against Burgos CF, making clear the objective with which the blanquiverde team approaches its first official match of the season. “We are going with the intention of winning the match”, stated the Asturian coach, who emphasized the importance of starting off on the right foot to reinforce the work done during the preseason. “Anything that involves winning strengthens the idea we have”, Ania noted, also aware of the value of the team's first competitive impression: “That first impact the team gives is always important, and if it comes with results, even more so”.
After five weeks of preparation, Ania assured that the team is ready to compete at El Plantío with a defined game plan. “I am clear about the starting eleven I will field and the game plan; I have decided”, he affirmed. The blanquiverde coach expects a Burgos team with a greater inclination to take control of the ball, although he particularly emphasized what will depend on Córdoba CF. “We have to be a team with an identity and try to be recognizable at all times”, he explained. In this regard, he placed much of the chances of victory on being decisive in key areas: “We have to try to dominate the areas, as we know that’s where results are decided”, in addition to improving the efficiency rate in finishing.
The coach also highlighted the importance of players with experience and leadership ability within a group that continues to grow, singling out Rubén Alves as “an important pillar and a top-level center-back”. Asked about potential moves before the transfer window closes, Ania stressed that the locker room remains “completely unaffected by those situations” and fully focused on the competition. All in all, he summarized Córdoba CF's goal for the start of the championship with a clear idea: “To try to be as competitive as possible, which allows you to always stay in the game and closer to victories”.
