Cordobesismo is in mourning to bid farewell to Manuel Oviedo Martínez, a key figure in the modern history of Córdoba Club de Fútbol. Born in our city in December 1939, Oviedo not only experienced football on the field in his youth as a left winger, but also dedicated his management skills, his assets, and his heart to the club he loved from the offices. His name will forever be etched in the memory of the fans as the president who restored hope and sporting dignity to El Arcángel after the long years of exile. 

For the memory. The pinnacle of his institutional career came in the 1998-1999 season. In a time of great instability and complexity for the club, Manuel Oviedo assumed the presidency with unwavering commitment and courage that inspired all levels of the club. Despite the precariousness, his tenure culminated in the unforgettable afternoon of June 30, 1999, at the Cartagonova, where the team achieved the long-awaited promotion to the Second Division, lifting Córdoba CF out of the depths of Segunda B after years of suffering. That milestone, forged under his leadership, was not only a sporting success but the rebirth of cordobesismo throughout the province. 

With his passing, we lose a lifelong cordobesista, an integral football man, and a leader who united Córdoba around a common goal during the most delicate moments. Córdoba Club de Fútbol extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all those who had the honor of sharing with him his love for our crest.
