Córdoba CF secures a valuable point in Vigo with two players down (2-2)

Córdoba CF managed to salvage a point in Vigo against Celta Fortuna despite being down to nine players due to the expulsions of Álex Martín (just before halftime) and Isma Ruiz (a few minutes before the end of the match). The blanquiverdes had managed to equalize while playing with fewer players and even created chances to take the lead. The Celta reserve team was unable to close out the match despite their numerical advantage, even in the final minutes (six minutes of added time) with two extra players. This was the first draw of the season for the blanquiverdes.

The first half was played at a high tempo until the 30th minute, with action going back and forth between the areas. Córdoba CF gradually pushed the game into Celta Fortuna's half, which had two chances in the first 15 minutes, especially one by Óscar Marcos that Iker saved with his foot, preventing a 1-0 scoreline. Earlier, Carracedo had a chance in a perfect counterattack by the blanquiverdes to take the lead.

Just as Ania's team was gaining control of the game, Kibet scored. After a throw-in by Córdoba CF and a possible foul on Eder during the control, the young academy player drove into the box—Isma nearly dispossessed him—and dribbled twice before shooting into the net.

The blanquiverdes' response was immediate. A steal by Isma in the defensive zone allowed for another lethal counterattack, with Carracedo assisting on the left wing for Bri's cross-shot, which equalized the score just two minutes later.

Several interruptions slowed the pace of the game, although Córdoba CF remained in the opponent's area without converting their offensive production (up to five corners). However, just before halftime, the key play of the match occurred.

Álex Martín lost the ball while advancing and fouled Óscar Marcos. The play ended with a dangerous shot and a yellow card for the blanquiverde defender, but VAR prompted the referee to review the incident, resulting in the expulsion of the Canary Islander in the 45th minute, leaving the team with one less player at the start of the second half. Rubén Alves replaced Carracedo, and Ania moved Bri to the right wing.

With Ania's team retreating, Celta Fortuna put pressure on the blanquiverde defense at the start of the second half, which could only hold out for ten minutes while shorthanded. During that time, Kibet, the best player for the home team, took a shot on goal, and Iker's save was capitalized on by Álvaro Marín, who got ahead of Budesca to make it 2-1 (56th minute).

It was a tough situation for the Córdoba players, who struggled after conceding the goal. However, the blanquiverde coach's substitutions—bringing on Enol, Víctor, and Damián, along with tactical changes to a 4-3-2 formation to maintain attacking power while shoring up the midfield—and Kibet's substitution seemed to give Córdoba a boost as they began to threaten Coke's goal.

In the 72nd minute, a great pass from Tasende to Budesca on the wing and a precise pass to Víctor in the heart of the area resulted in an equalizer, as the player from Seville got ahead of the Celta defense to score. Córdoba enjoyed their best moments of the match despite being a man down, creating two more chances to make it 2-3: a good turn by Víctor, who found himself one-on-one with the Celta goalkeeper, who saved his shot, and a powerful right-footed shot from Thèo, who had just come on, from the right wing that forced a great save from Coke.

There seemed to be light at the end of the tunnel in this phase of the match, but a foul committed by Isma Ruiz—who arrived just late—earned him a second yellow card and another expulsion with six minutes left in regulation. Once again, the match became an uphill battle. Even so, Córdoba CF managed to hold on with nine players on the field, including six minutes of added time, without Celta Fortuna creating significant danger, except for a header by Ndiaye, who was unmarked in front of Iker but sent it wide.
